Hawkes By born and Otautahi raised, life long artist in different mediums .

A soon as I picked up a piece of Pounamu I felt the Ihi hit me and I knew that Pounamu was something special. A roofer by trade, I have been slowly growing with pounamu for years, learning forms, following other carvers and falling in love with Maori art with respect to tikanga.

My art is deeply rooted in the spirit and culture of Aotearoa. 

With a blend of tradition and personal narrative, every piece I create is a love letter to the land and a reflection of my own story as an artist
